Anatoli Akerman is one of the most subtle clowns in the world. He was the star clown of Circus Roncalli, made guest appearances with Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas and performed brilliantly in Tim Burton’s new interpretation of the Disney classic, Dumbo. Together with Christoph Schiele, Akerman has developed a new version of his play KuKu. In their search for fulfilment, the two of them stalk and ensnare each other, embrace and outwit each other, and ultimately ride the same sequence of repetitive routine. A play with a fine, melancholy humour that makes its audience laugh gleefully one second and pause wonderfully still the next.
