Henry Jesionka
Fleeing Shadows
Canada / Austria
A serious discussion of paradise is not possible without a look into the abysses of the "shadow realm" - to avoid the term hell. This is what Henry Jesionka, who has long been concerned with the effects of scientific research on our societies, confronts. A topic that is more topical than ever in times when the effects of progress threaten the continued existence of the earth and the fear of nuclear war is greater than it has been for decades. In his exhibition "Fleeing Shadows", which La Strada is showing in cooperation with the Cultural Centre at the Minorites, the focus is on multimedia sculptures around Robert Oppenheimer and Stephen Hawking - which pay tribute to scientific ambition but also refer to the tragedies involved.
