The Belgian company Circus Ronaldo creates a circus that is both deeply rooted in tradition and surprisingly contemporary. With authentic circus wagons, historical objects and a performance style inspired by Commedia dell’arte, the artists pay tribute to the theatre circus of bygone days while breathing new life into it. As the audience is immersed in the world of the Ronaldos, reality and fiction begin to blur – and spectators encounter their own vulnerable humanity.

In Da Capo, the Ronaldo family tells its own chronicle – a cinematic and poetic journey through 180 years of wonder, passion and coincidence. From the 15-year-old boy who ran away with the circus in 1842 to the seventh generation now stepping into the ring, the production unfolds as both a moving family epic and a glimpse into the fantastic history of circus art across the world.
