teil:haben / take part
This year, more than ever, La Strada invites audiences to actively take part. As part of teil:haben, residents become co-creators in the artistic process: during the first phase of Graz on the Move with Johannes Bellinkx & Benjamin Vandewalle, participants can help develop a choreography for and with public space. In his participatory performance Care to carry, Dutch artist Nick Steur explores mindfulness and responsibility towards others. At Freiheitsplatz, audiences become part of the performance as they are invited to make music together with Compagnie du Coin. As part of the updated exhibition of our multi-year cherished project Signal vom Dachstein, Danish artist Nana-Francisca Schottländer invites audiences to a touching encounter with the Dachstein Glacier in Let the mountain come to you.
Participation in La Strada’s projects has already been possible from May 2026: since then, Zwermers have been developing Worn out?, a textile portrait of the city, together with performers from Graz and in collaboration with Carla of Caritas Steiermark. The La Strada co-production will premiere at the festival in August. And during a residency in Graz, IN SITU Emerging Artists Marcos Krivocapich and León Siewert-Langhoff further developed and tested the project unreal state together with local participants.

Nick Steur
Care to carry
A person can carry an astonishing amount of weight on their head while expending hardly any additional energy. Based on this insight, Dutch artist Nick Steur expanded his research into weight and balance, discovering a new approach to practising mindfulness and balance amid the chaos of the city. Care to carry is a sensory exploration for 15 participants per workshop and performance.
Graz city centre: 4 to 8 August (in motion)
Joannes Bellinkx & Benjamin Vandewalle
Graz on the Move
In its first phase, the project will be developed through workshops during La Strada 2026. It brings together a group of people in the city to celebrate slowness and silence. Lying on the ground – in sync, scattered or in formation – their bodies form a performative landscape that moves gently through public space.
Graz city centre: 31 July to 4 August

Compagnie du Coin
95% Mortel
Drawing on a rich musical heritage, Compagnie du Coin blends jazz and driving grooves with Haitian sounds, punk, classical music and minimalist soundscapes. The result is a captivating performance – a sensory experience for the ears and eyes, bursting with energy and inviting everyone to take an active part and join in the music.

Nana-Francisca Schottländer
Let the mountain come to you
The project by the Danish performance and visual artist was created in the course of her visits to the Dachstein Glacier for the La Strada project Signal vom Dachstein between 2022 and 2026. In the multimedia installation Let the mountain come to you, presented as part of the exhibition Signal vom Dachstein ... in Sound and Image at Atelier Jungwirth, Nana-Francisca Schottländer invites a sensory reflection on the relationship between the human body and the region around the Dachstein Glacier.
The artist invites you to an intimate encounter with a landscape in which the slow pace of deep geological time and the fragility caused by climate change become palpable within the span of a single breath.
Atelier Jungwirth, Opernring 12: 1 to 8 August / 5:30 PM

Zwermers
Worn out?
A shirt full of memories. A jacket that lasts for generations. A dress, quickly forgotten. Why do we keep certain pieces – and dispose of others so easily?
In May, Zwermers came to Graz for an artistic residency. Together with local performers brought together through an open call by La Strada, they explored the hidden life of clothing: using garments from local donation containers of the Carla project / Caritas Steiermark, they created a collective choreography that weaves together personal stories, identities and global textile routes.
This shared work now culminates in a public performance at La Strada 2026, inviting you to rethink your own relationship with clothing:
Performances:
1 & 2 August / 11:00 AM & 5:00 PM | 3. August / 5:00 PM
Marcos Krivocapich
unreal state
In May 2026, IN SITU IN SITU Emerging Artist Marcos Krivocapich from Buenos Aires, together with co-creator León Siewert-Langhoff, made Graz the starting point for the immersive digital game unreal state, which explores algorithms and their influence on our behaviour in urban space. Together with participants from Graz, they tested and further developed first prototypes during their residency through workshops and a final tryout. unreal state will travel to several of our IN SITU partner festivals, before celebrating its premiere at the IN SITU FOCUS at the Festival FiraTàrrega in September 2026.
