Jazz meets Música Popular Brasileira
For the past year, singer and actress Luiza Monteiro, originally from Rio de Janeiro, has made Graz her new home. In doing so, she brings her roots with her to Styria. With both longing and curiosity, she re-explores her heritage together with Austrian musicians Thomas Quendler (piano), Johannes Mandl (guitar), Bernhard Potzmann (drums), Gloria Handler (percussion), and bassist Alvis Reid. Together, they embark on a journey through Brazilian popular music – from the gentle, influential sounds of 1950s bossa nova to the diverse and vibrant hits of the 2000s.
